What do the numbers mean: 14x30x6 11x34x6? How do I even get into all this? These numbers are simply measurements and are in feet (30.48cm) and inches (2.54cm), like all nautical equipment. In short, a longer board is faster and holds its course better. A wider board is more stable. Family boards are mostly 32-34 inches (80-85cm) wide. Narrower boards are mostly for cruising or competition. A thickness of 6 inches means 15cm. This is the standard today. You can also find a 12cm thick board. It can work well if it is high quality and you don't have more than 75kg. But if someone offers you a 4 inch (10cm) thick board just run out of the shop - it is only half suitable for a child up to 40kgs.
