LA SIESTA

The FSC label means that the wood is produced in an environmentally responsible manner. It is awarded to products that meet 10 principles with 56 indicators based on the Forest Stewardship Council. Only forests that comply with all indicators can obtain the FSC seal. The products are also equipped with a tracking number that you can enter at http://info.fsc.org

La Siesta is the first manufacturer of GOTS certified hammocks. All their cotton products are made from certified organic cotton. GOTS means that the cotton is grown organically. All subsequent production processes are also ecologically and socially responsible. All procedures are accompanied by clear documentation and clear markings. All chemical additives (eg paints) must also meet strict nature conservation criteria. They also strictly control garbage and waste water from production.

SOCiLA is a project of the founder of La Siesta, Alexdro Grisar. When he wanted organic cotton hammocks, he realized that such cotton was not even available in Colombia. Therefore, they had to import the material to Colombia, where it was then hand-sewn into their hammocks. Which, of course, is not a solution, as additional transport also pollutes the environment. That's why his organization is now teaching farmers in Latin America about organic cotton production.

"DITO" JOSE EXPEDITO DE MOURA is a humanitarian who runs the non-profit organization TOR ZUR HOFFNUNG. He is trying to help as many children as possible from the Brazilian favela Graviola in Fortaleza. On the surface, the place is an idyllic seaside town full of sun, sand and sea. However, there is a lot of poverty, violence and drugs in the background. Therefore, in 2015, the La Siesta Center for Youth, managed by Dito, was founded.

Every minute that a child is in the center, he is not exposed to violence and drugs on the street. They are currently helping 85 children between the ages of 5 and 18 to get a better start in life with the help of sports, culture and education.
