The soup is a prop that doesn't require much maintenance, but you can still use simple tricks to make sure it will serve you for a long time.
1. CLEANING AFTER USE
It may sound contradictory, because you are breathing in water and it should be clean, but this is not exactly the case. Especially when swimming in salt water, it is recommended to periodically rinse the soup with fresh water, as salt in combination with other factors can shorten the life of the soup.
The same applies to swimming in fresh water (lakes and rivers), where organisms in the water can quickly develop an unpleasant odor. So, try to rinse your soup with fresh water as often as possible after use.
2. KEEP IT DRY
Another contradictory thing about lunging, which is related to when you're not lunging. Before you roll up the sup in the bag, try to dry it as much as possible. You can leave it in the air for a while, you can wipe it with a cloth or towel. This will prevent the accumulation of moisture in the rolled soup, which can develop an unpleasant smell in the bag if it is not used for a long time, and in combination with other factors, it can also affect the lifespan of the soup.
3. AVOID IT FROM DIRECT SUN
There is a third contradictory thing, which is also related to the period when you don't breathe. Although Starboard's soups use welding technology instead of gluing, which means that the temperature does not affect the joints, still try to keep the soup in the shade as much as possible and do not expose it to direct sunlight.
It is also recommended to lower it slightly, up to 10 psi. Due to the high temperature, the air in the soup contracts and expands, which can damage the internal structures of the board and consequently affect the surfing experience. If you keep it in the shade under pine trees, also pay attention to the resin of the trees.
4. KEEP IT AT ROOM TEMPERATURE
We have already written about where to go with soup in the colder part of the year. If you have space, you can keep the soup half-inflated, if you don't have space, you can roll it up and put it in your bag. In both cases, ensure that it is not exposed to moisture and high temperatures. Room temperature is the most suitable, so the heating system or the balcony will not be used during the winter.
And another tip: if you don't have space and you're going to keep the sup in a bag over the winter, clean it well and dry it first, as the first point says.
5. LOWER IT BEFORE SAVING
If you have room to store the sup outside the bag, it is recommended to inflate it enough to hold its shape. Temperature differences also occur indoors, which can affect the contraction and expansion of air in the soup, which can damage the inner parts of the soup.
6. REGULAR USE
The best way to extend the life of your soup is to use it regularly. If your sup is rolled up in a bag somewhere in the attic for too long, possible moisture, temperature and other factors can damage its parts. With regular use, you will ensure that the soup is always clean and dry and that it serves its purpose.
7. DO NOT USE A COMPRESSOR
Maybe you've already mastered the art of inflating soup with a hand press and a compressor seems like a great idea to make things easier for yourself. Bad news, using a compressor to inflate can damage your sup, and it can also affect your garage. If you want to make things easier, we recommend an electric press , made just for soups, but know that puffing on your hands is also part of souping and an excellent training for your hands.
8. DO NOT DRAG IT ACROSS THE FLOOR
It often happens that you can't quite make it to the entry point and you have to carry the inflated sup a little further. Although the soups are relatively light, you can quickly feel its weight after a few hundred meters. These shoulder straps can be helpful, and Starboard SUPs have a shoulder strap already on the board itself. You can also use a trolley to transport the soup . We probably don't need to mention that he doesn't drag it on the floor in any way.
